Biography:
PITTSTON -- Kevin T. Basinger, 52, of Pittston, passed away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with his family by his side.
He was born in Redwood City, Calif., Dec. 1, 1959, the son of Shirley and Kevin Basinger. He graduated from Woodside High School in California.
He married his high school sweetheart, Sabrina Basinger, in 1982. They have been together since age 17. This April would have been their 30th wedding anniversary.
He worked as an electrician all his life. He worked for Rogers Electric, Mid Maine Electric and Johnson and Jordan as an electrical estimator/project manager. Kevin loved his job and the people he worked with.
Kevin was very proud of his two sons, Justin and Tyler, and what they have accomplished over the years. He was also very proud of his daughter, Mariah, and loved to watch her dance. He watched her perform her first lead role in Kennebec Dance Centre's "The Tap Nutcracker" on Dec. 10, 2011. He loved spending time with his granddaughters, Elaina and Lillian. He watched Elaina get her orange belt in karate on Dec. 12, 2011.
Kevin enjoyed teasing his grandchildren and telling them stories about when "papa was a little girl." He was a lover of dogs and especially fond of his two golden retrievers, Sophie and Miles. Kevin enjoyed golf, skiing and snowmobiling.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Shirley and Kevin Basinger.
Kevin leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Sabrina Basinger; daughter Mariah, 15, and her boyfriend, Matt McKenna; son Tyler, 24, his girlfriend, Jodie, and her children, Nigel, Lea and Jaycie; son Justin, 27, his wife, Jennifer, and his grandchildren, Elaina and Lillian; his sisters, Stephanie and Christine; and his mother and father-in-law, Tina and Malcolm Watson.
Kevin was loved by all and touched many lives.
A celebration of life will be held in Kevin's honor at 1 p.m. Saturday Jan. 28, 2012, at the American Legion hall, 117 Bowdoin St., in Winthrop, for family and friends.
The family would like to thank friends and co-workers for their love and support. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and other staff at the MGMC-Augusta and The Alfond Center in Augusta for their compassionate care.
