Amber Rose Cox, née Theriault, 62, of Auburn, Maine, passed away on July 27, 2026, after facing cancer with remarkable grace, positivity, and an unwavering concern for the well-being of others. Her resilience, generosity, and compassion were a reflection of the way she lived every day of her life.
Amber lived with joy and intention—a life filled with spark, spirit, kindness, and connection. She embraced every moment with a sparkle in her eye and a hint of mischief that made people feel instantly at ease. She was always ready for an adventure, the first to dance, the first to laugh, and the first to say yes to making memories. Her optimism was contagious, her smile unforgettable, and her ability to bring people together was one of her greatest gifts.
Professionally, Amber was accomplished and deeply respected. As a board-certified clinical hypnotherapist, emotional intelligence specialist, author, and educator, she dedicated her career to helping people navigate life's challenges with courage, resilience, and clarity. She believed deeply in the strength that exists within every individual and devoted herself to empowering others to discover it for themselves. Her passion for emotional well-being led her to write about emotional intelligence and share her knowledge through coaching, speaking, and teaching. She approached every client, student, and colleague with empathy, curiosity, and genuine compassion, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
Above all else, Amber's greatest joy, deepest purpose, and greatest passion in life was being a mother. It was the role she cherished above all others. Her daughters were her heart and the greatest expression of her love. She loved them fiercely and unconditionally, showing up for them with unwavering love, thoughtful guidance, and endless encouragement. Amber always seemed to know exactly what to say to bring comfort, clarity, or hope. She had a remarkable gift for making the people she loved feel lighter, surrounding them with her gentle, nurturing presence and the warmth she brought into their lives. She celebrated every success, stood beside them through every challenge, and quietly went the extra mile—through countless acts of love, both big and small—to ensure they always felt loved, supported, understood, and deeply cherished.
More than her professional accomplishments, Amber will be remembered for the way she made people feel. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, heard, and deeply valued. She inspired those around her to believe in themselves and become better versions of themselves. Her family was at the center of her world, and she poured her heart into the people she loved. Her presence was a source of comfort, her laughter brought light into every room, and her unwavering encouragement helped others through life's most difficult moments.
Amber's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched—with her wisdom, her compassion, her spirit for living and loving life, and her extraordinary ability to remind people of their own strength. She taught others that connection is life's greatest gift, and that even in life's most difficult moments, there is always room for love, grace, and possibility. She lived fully. She loved deeply. She leaves behind a world made brighter because she was in it.
Amber is survived by her loving daughters, Hilary Boulier and her partner, Dylan Moulton; Hannah Cox and her partner, David Degras; and Lydia Ratsep and her husband, Ryan Ratsep. She was the cherished grandmother of Kit, whose life brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her beloved mother, Deborah Harper; her brother, Don Theriault, and his wife, Ariana Patterson; her devoted life partner, Barbara McCrum, her treasured lifelong friends, Leslie Weeks, Erik Weeks, Jim Carroll, and Jasmine Pellerin; and her former spouses, William Cox and Todd Boulier, who each played an important role in building the life and family she so deeply cherished. She was preceded in death by both of her fathers, Bryan Harper and Armand Theriault, and by Casey Campana, who became family at a young age and was loved as a son.
A celebration of Amber's life will be held on September 11th, 2026 at 11 am at the First Universalist Church of Auburn in Auburn, Maine, followed by a celebration of life at Davincis in Lewiston, Maine at 1 pm.
