August 15, 1952 — May 5, 2026
Dennis Arthur Bennett, 73, of Bowdoin, Maine, passed away on May 5, 2026. Born in Brunswick on August 15, 1952, he was the son of the late Frank S. Bennett, II and Florence Sieg.
Dennis was a master of his craft, beginning his lifelong career in the drywall industry as a teenager at the family business, Maine Drywall Consultants, Inc. He worked alongside his father and brothers for years and, following his father's passing, continued to own and operate the company with his brother, Joseph Bennett. The business was well-known for its exceptional craftsmanship throughout the Midcoast region until Dennis's retirement in 2016.
Beyond his professional work, Dennis took immense pride in his own home, keeping it in meticulous repair. He was a teacher at heart, passing this trait and his vast knowledge of homebuilding onto his sons. Some of their most cherished memories were made working side-by-side with him, learning that the care and precision put into a structure is what truly makes a house a home. In his later years, he found quiet joy in his vegetable garden, which served as the source of many tomatoes and cucumbers for his family over the years. He spent his final days at his kitchen table building puzzles and doting on his beloved dog, Willow.
Dennis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cheryl Ann Bennett, with whom he shared 52 beautiful years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Frank S. Bennett III. Their family legacy was the cornerstone of his life, and he is now peacefully reunited with those he loved so dearly.
He is survived by his two sons, Christopher Bennett and his wife Renata, and Jason Bennett and his wife Angel. He was the devoted grandfather of Zachary Bennett and his wife Victoria, Allyson Bennett, Parker Bennett, Autumn Frechette and her fiancé Michael Robb, Madison Thompson and her husband Richard Thompson, and Brandan Bennett. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Callum and Dalton. Dennis also leaves behind his brothers, Stephen Bennett and his wife Lisa, James Bennett and his wife Deborah, Joseph Bennett, and Jonathan Bennett.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible ICU staff at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick for their dedicated care and compassion during Dennis's final days.
In accordance with his wishes, a private celebration of life will be held in place of a traditional funeral.
