Doris Marie Gammon, age 85, of Manchester, Maine, gained her angel wings to be with the Lord on August 21, 2026.
Doris was born on September 8, 1940, in Augusta, Maine, and was the youngest daughter of Jean Lavesque and John Bilodeau.
While raising her four children, Doris worked for several years in the Manchester Elementary School kitchen and later as head cook at Maranacook Community High School. She then began a 24-year career with the Department of Transportation, retiring at age 63.
In her younger years, Doris enjoyed roller-skating with friends, which eventually led her to the love of her life of 68 years. She later became involved with the Ladies Auxiliary Club as well as the Manchester Snowmobile Club.
In her later years, Doris spent her winters in Florida, and enjoyed reading, playing cards and games, bowling, golfing, going to movies, tending to her flower garden, going to church, and spending as much time as she could with family and friends. Doris had a special love for angels and collected them throughout her life, finding comfort and joy in their presence.
Doris will be remembered for her kindness, loving nature, and the genuine sweetness she shared with those around her. Not a day went by that she didn't talk about how much she loved her children and grandchildren. She truly valued time spent with family and never missed the important moments in their lives.
Doris was preceded in death by her sisters, Rita Dupere and Constance Dutil. She is survived by her loving husband, Everett Gammon Jr.; their four children, Marilyn Palmer and her husband, David, Everett "Buddy" Gammon III and his partner, Rebecca McNaughton, Lisa Gammon, and Troy Gammon; three grandchildren, Kristin, Corey, and Nicholas; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who were a part of Doris's life and for the love, kindness, and support shown to her and her family. A celebration of Doris's life will be held at a later date for immediate family and close friends.
