Harry McNelley (1956 2026)
BRUNSWICK, ME Harry McNelley, 69, of Brunswick, passed away on April 23, 2026, at Maine Medical Center in Portland following a long and courageous battle with diabetes.
Life and Service
Harry s life was defined by service and a passion for community. In 1982, while stationed in Iceland with the U.S. Navy, he met and married his wife, Laurie. During his naval career, Harry served as an RMT specialized in teletype repair and as an AK-Aviation Storekeeper.
Following his military service, Harry became involved with the local Boy Scout organization. He was deeply involved in Scouting leadership, participating in advanced training courses such as Wood Badge and Roundtable to better support and develop programs for his sons and their peers.
An avid enthusiast of technology and communication, Harry was also an active member of the local Ham Radio Club. He led weekly meetings, hosted local gatherings, and traveled to out-of-state events, sharing his expertise and friendship with fellow operators.
Family
Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Laurie McNelley. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Jeremy and Justin McNelley.

Nephew Butch Cheathum (wife Kristy and their four boys).
Nephew Jay Cheathum (wife Tammy and their three boys).
Niece Missy Rodgers.
Harry was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Tew.
