In Loving Memory of Leroy Nelson Mead
Leroy Nelson Mead, 73, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, in Augusta, Maine. He was born on August 3, 1952, in Owosso, Michigan, to Betty Louise Mead and Robert Lee Mead.
Leroy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for two years. Following his military service, he spent many years as a truck driver before answering a calling to ministry, faithfully serving as a minister for 15 years. Throughout his life, Leroy was known for his strong faith, dedication to others, and unwavering love for his family.
He found great joy in traveling, creating lasting memories with family and friends, and sharing his kindness and encouragement with everyone he met. His warmth, compassion, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Leroy was preceded in death by his brother, Robert James Mead; his sister, Anita Louise Braymen; and his parents, Betty Louise Mead and Robert Lee Mead.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Gwen Mead; his sons, Brandon J. Mead (Amy) and Gregory Neil Atwood (Gail); his daughter, Ginger Atwood Timmons (Jason); his grandchildren, Matthew Timmons, Robert Timmons (Sarah), Joshua Mead, Harmonie Lee Atwood, and Nancy Ann Atwood; a special young man, Jackson Smith; his siblings, Patty Schafer (Jay), Sam Mead, and Joyce Elkins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Brunswick Church of the Nazarene, 94 McKeen Street, Brunswick, Maine. Family and friends are invited to remain for a light lunch and a time of fellowship following the service.
Leroy's legacy of faith, service, love, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
