Paul H. Sasseville, 74, of Hutchinson Island, Florida and formerly of Auburn, Maine, passed away April 25, 2026, in Auburn after a courageous battle with mesothelioma.
Born November 10, 1951, in Lewiston, he was the son of Louis P. and Florida Sasseville.
A general contractor and real estate developer, Paul was a visionary leader in multi- and single-family housing in Auburn. His wife, Gail, played an active role alongside him in developing The Highland Apartments and later Kittyhawk Apartments I and II, helping shape housing in the Lewiston-Auburn area. His family’s work now spans multiple generations, with his children and grandchildren continuing in the business.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Gail; his children, Aaron Sasseville and April LaFrance and her husband, Josh LaFrance; and his grandchildren, Charter, Parker, Saylor, and Piper Sasseville, and Jacob LaFrance and his wife, McKenna, and Ruby LaFrance. He also leaves his siblings, Teresa Fuller, Claire Poussard and her husband, Reggie, and Maurice Sasseville and his wife, Anna; his brother- and sister-in-law, Victor and Pamela Bellini, William W. Matthews III and his wife, Veronica; and his brother-in-law, Robert Marcotte. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister-in-law, Maureen Marcotte, and his brother-in-law, Stephen Gabri.
Paul was known for his strong work ethic and analytical mind. He enjoyed beekeeping, flying airplanes, and real estate projects in Florida.
A man of faith, he lived by Ephesians 4:28: “…let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.”
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29, at Pathway Vineyard, 2 Columbus Drive, Brunswick. All are welcome to attend.
