Sandra Sawyer Drake, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 23, 2026, at Avita of Brunswick.
Sandra was born on November 15, 1936, in Brewer, Maine, to Dorris Wood Farrar and Earl Sawyer. She attended New Britain High School in Connecticut.
On February 15, 1958, Sandra married the love of her life, Spencer Drake Sr., in a double wedding ceremony alongside her sister, Phyllis, and her husband, Tony Williams, in Portland, Maine. Together, Sandra and Spencer built a loving family and shared many happy years together.
Before dedicating herself to raising her family, Sandra worked as a filing assistant in the cancer unit at Maine Medical Center. She devoted much of her life to her family, her community, and the many interests that brought her joy.
Sandra was an active member of the Freeport community. She proudly served two terms as president of the Freeport Woman's Club and was also a member of the Freeport Investment Club and the Freeport Art Club. She had a passion for cooking, painting, gardening, reading, and genealogy. Whether tending her flowers, creating artwork, preparing meals for loved ones, or tracing her family's history, Sandra approached every endeavor with curiosity, creativity, and care.
Sandra was predeceased by her beloved husband, Spencer Drake Sr.; her son, Jonathan Drake; and her sister, Phyllis Williams Sawyer.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Spencer Drake Jr. and his wife, Cindy; her daughter, Kimberly Callnan and her husband, Kevin; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Drake; and her sister, Florence Sawyer. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Spencer Everett, Katherine Drake, Tyler Callnan, Jason Callnan, Randi Drake Flynn, and Shane Drake; and her great-grandchildren, Rory Drake, Asher Callnan, Sophie Callnan, and Owen Callnan, along with many extended family members and friends.
Sandra will be remembered for her spirit, unwavering love for her family, generous heart, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched.
A private memorial garden service for the family will be held at a later date.
