Janet Dionne Brand

Biography:

BRUNSWICK - Janet died at her home from a hereditary, slowly debilitating, disease at age 75. Born in Brunswick, Maine, daughter of Arthur J. and Alberta Rand Dionne.

She entered the Army as soon as she graduated from Brunswick High School. She was trained as an Operating Room Technician which became her life career. She was among the first group to be tested and certified in the private sector and became the San Francisco, California chairman of the CORT'S Organization. She sat on School Boards and the local Planning Commission while in Vermont. She sat on and chaired a private association forestry committee for many years in Michigan. She chaired, as trustee, a local scholarship fund while in Maine.

In her later years Janet became interested in the teaching of G. I Gurdjieff, spending her time struggling to become more fully conscious. During this time her consuming interest was the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong.
In 1971 she married Dr. Peter B. Brand, who predeceased her in 2006.

She is survived by her Sister Linda D. Lund her husband Rick and Brother Philip A. Dionne. Her younger sister, Debra L. A. Dionne, predeceased her in 2012. She has a son Joel R. Cherry and a grand-daughter Annabelle M. Cherry of Santee, California. She has a step-son Ethan B. Brand his wife Ellen and two step-grandsons, Tristan Brand of Menlo Park California and Jason Brand of Des Moines Washington.
Honoring Janet's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will take place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Brunswick Maine on May 7, 2018 at 2 pm.
