Biography:

NORTH YARMOUTH – Jean C. Craig, 91, passed away on January 23, 2015. Born in Brockton, MA, Jean lived for many years in Scituate, MA with her husband Ed before moving to North Yarmouth in 2007 to be near family. She loved Maine, having spent much time sailing, visiting, and vacationing there over the years.


Jean was an active community member. She was a member of the First Trinitarian Congregational Church of Scituate, volunteering many hours to church activities. An active member of the Satuit Boat Club, Jean spent many enjoyable years sailing, racing, and cruising with good friends and family all over New England and beyond. Jean loved gardening and was a member and past president of the Scituate Garden Club; she enjoyed flower arranging and all phases of horticulture. She was instrumental in creating a public wildflower garden, which has won national awards, in Scituate. In North Yarmouth, she continued to participate in horticulture with the Walnut Hill Garden Club.

She is survived by her husband Edgar Craig, as well as her daughter Carol Nale of Yarmouth, and her son Thomas Craig and his wife Ann of West Newbury, Mass. She was predeceased by a son, Wilfred E.G. Craig of Hull, MA. She also leaves seven grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.


Burial will be at the First Trinitarian Congregational Church Memorial Garden, Scituate, MA in the spring.
