Biography:

AUBURN-Norma J. Hoy, 82, of Schooner Estates passed away on Monday, November 9th, 2015 at the Hospice House in Auburn following a brief illness.

She was born in Auburn, Maine on December 17th, 1932 the daughter of Elwood N. and Fleeta A. (Smith) Carver. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School.

She had been employed by Maine Bankers as a professional secretary.

Mrs. Hoy had no children of her own, but was a surrogate mother and grandmother to many, sharing her love with all. She will be missed by her family.

She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, James S. Hoy; two brothers, Roger and David Carver; and brothers-in-law Paul Lyons, John Hodge, and Bill Hansen.

Mrs. Hoy is survived by her brother, John C. Carver Sr. and his wife Laura of Turner; five sisters, Joan E Lyons of Auburn, Dorothy C. Hanson of Florida, Margaret C. Hodge of Florida, Judith A. Boothby and husband Teddy of Turner, and Sandra N. Vye and husband Dick of Auburn; brother-in-law Charles and his wife Florence Hoy; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews, and friends.

There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Sunday Nov. 15th, 2015 at the West Auburn Congregational Church 811 W Auburn Rd Auburn ME 04210. Burial will follow immediately after the service at North Auburn Cemetery. Following committal prayers refreshments and celebration of Norma’s life will take place back at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice House, C/O Androscoggin Homecare and Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave. Lewiston, Maine 04240.
