Biography:

Augusta - Ella M. Kelley, 92, passed away at Gray Birch Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, Augusta on September 3, 2010.

 

She was born in Richmond on May 23, 1918 the daughter of William Meserve, Sr. and Inez (Merrifield) Meserve.

 

Ella graduated from Richmond High School, Class of 1935 and then from beauty school in Lewiston. She operated a salon out of her home in her earlier years. After the death of her first husband, Ella learned to drive so that she could become more self-sufficient. Later, she owned and operated the general store in Weeks Mills.

 

Ella was skilled in needle crafts and lovingly shared all of her knitting, crocheting and needle point projects.  She had a great love for cooking and always made meals from scratch; never out of a can or a box.

 

She was predeceased by her parents; first husband Dewey P. Fisher; second husband, Charles Kelley; and sister, Marjorie Payne. 

 

Ella is survived by her sons, William Fisher and his wife Jill of Hallowell and Gregory Fisher of Augusta; granddaughter Laurie of Rockland;  grandson, William and his wife Tina of Laporte, Indiana; great granddaughter,  Gracyn; two sisters and a brother, Grace Faulkner of Reading, MA, Mary Vickers  of Hudson, MA and William Meserve, Jr., of Randolph.

 

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

 

Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives, 198 Western Avenue, Augusta.
