Ernest Kreitman

Date of Death: December 17, 2015

Date of Birth: October 31, 1926

Biography:

Ernest Kreitman, 89, of Brunswick, formerly Sanford, Maine, died at home on Dec. 17, 2015. Born the youngest of three sons to Minnie and Louis Kreitman, he grew up in Quincy, MA. His first job apprenticing at Mathewson Machine Works started his forty-eight year career there as a machinist. His skill, hardwork, and dedication advanced him to become a vice president of the company at retirement. At Mathewson's he met Lillian Davidson with whom he shared sixty-six years of love, marriage, and challenges until her accidental death in 2012.

In Weymouth, MA where they raised their family, Ernie was head deacon for many years at Pilgrim Congregational Church, a mason, and favorite chaperone to youth groups. He loved his family unequivically and always let them know that. Vacations he spent at Bauneg Beg Pond in Sanford, ME, where he built a cottage on his own from recycled materials. He retired and lived there until three years ago when he came to live in Brunswick with his daughter and son-in-law.

A gentle, kind, unpretentious man, Ernie was happiest standing in his yard surveying the trees and sky. His sense of humor and commitment to always do what he believed to be the right thing earned him much respect and love in his lifetime.

He is survived by his three children and their families: Linda and William McCullough of Brunswick, ME; Donna and James O'Sullivan of Weymouth, MA; James and Terri Kreitman of Boulder, CO; six grandchildren: Andrew McCullough of Freeport, ME; James T. O'Sullivan of Weymouth, MA; Mark O'Sullivan of Kihei, HA; Samantha Kreitman of Jamaica Plain, MA; James and Bobby Kreitman of Boulder, CO. Ernie especially treasured his four great-grandchildren: Timmy and Emily O'Sullivan, Iris and Aurea McCullough who brought him much joy in his last years.

Burial will be private. To honor his love of pet animals donations may be made to Coastal Humane Society, Brunswick, ME.
