Edith M. Mahoney

Biography:

Edith M. Mahoney passed away peacefully on May 26, 2010 in her home surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness.

Edith was the daughter of Arthur and Bernice(Moore) Philbrook of Appleton, Maine.

Edith graduated from Erskine Academy in 1959.  She worked for the State of Maine, Department of Taxation for 32 years.

Edward “Mickey” and Edith were married in March, 1959.  Together they raised their family in Chelsea, enjoying outdoor activities and camping.  Edith was a doting mother and grandmother.  She loved all sports, especially if her boys or grandchildren were involved.  Edith also had a special passion for horse racing.

Edith was predeceased by her parents; her infant son, Edward; her infant daughter, Marie; five brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward “Mickey” Mahoney, Jr.; two sons, Michael and his wife Diane of Whitefield, Mickey and his fiancé, Jen Newhouse of Farmingdale; two granddaughters, Megan and Chiara; three sisters Geneva Kinney of Warren, Christine Robbins and husband Neal of Appleton, Gladys Dyer of Waldoboro; brother-in-law, John Mahoney and his wife, Elaine of Chelsea; sister-in-law, Louise Mahoney of Chelsea; and many nieces and nephews, that she loved dearly.

Edith’s wishes are for a family burial site ceremony.
