Joan Evelyn Seltzer 12/28/30 - 11/03/18
Joan Evelyn Seltzer passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday,
November 3, 2018.
Joan was born in Portland, Maine on December 28 th , 1930. The daughter of Sally
(Shepard) and Louis Bernstein, Joan grew up in Portland and was a graduate of
Deering High School and Leslie College. She was married to Merrill Seltzer for 64
years and together they made their home in Portland and raised two children.
Joan was a preschool teacher at Catherine Morrill Day Nursery for several years and
loved her work there. Joan was also well known for her sales skills and especially loved
selling jewelry in area jewelry stores. Her love of family was evident in the special care
she provided for her parents, husband, and of course her grandchildren, who were the
joy of her life.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Laurie Seltzer; her son Scot Seltzer; daughter-in-law
Patrice, and grandchildren Cameron and Hannah Seltzer.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband.
There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made
