Biography:

FREEPORT – Betty M. Smith, 81, of Freeport passed away on Wednesday August 24th, 2016 at Freeport Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born on October 22, 1934 in Dixmont, Maine, the daughter of Daniel G. and Desma (Dean) Brooks.

Betty was a family woman full of love, laughter, and character. She spent most of her life caring for her home and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with friends and family and being social. Every morning she would clean her home in anticipation of having company. Her daughters always made sure she was fashionable. Betty will be remembered for her red lipstick, beautifully styled hair which she kept dyed at all times, her daily Noxema ritual, and her love for Italian sandwiches.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Floyd Malcolm, her second husband, Forrest Smith, three brothers, one sisters, and her great granddaughter "Jae Bug."

She is survived by her daughters, April Brooks, Rhonda O'Rourke, Debbie Pinkham, June Malcolm, Nancy Richardson, Linda Faucher, and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

At Betty's request there will be no services at this time.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to CHANS Home Health Care, 60 Baribeau Dr, Brunswick, ME 04011, or the Freeport Nursing & Rehab Center Resident Activity Fund, 3 East Street, Freeport, ME 04032.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to CHANS Home Health Care, especially Michelle Dean, Hospice R.N., and Dr. Salko who went above and beyond in caring for Betty, and little Nicole at Freeport Nursing & Rehab.
